USC News: Trojans Add Four-Star Athlete Prophet Brown to 2021 Recruiting Class

The Trojans continue to add depth and talent to one of the best reciting classes in 2021. Their recent commit, cornerback Prophet Brown hails from Monterey Trail High School in Elk Grove, California.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete is No. 206 overall prospect in the country and the No. 15 overall cornerback. Brown marks the fifth defensive back that the Trojans have been able to lure to Southern California and the 18th commit for 2021. Brown announced his commitment to USC on Twitter over other offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and rival Notre Dame.

According to many analysts, Brown is considered to be one of the fastest athletes in the state and could potentially stick to his natural position at running back where he has impressed during high school. During his junior season, he rushed for 779 yards while also picking up 343 receiving yards. He’s proven to do it all as he has also thrown for three touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he has intercepted 3 passes resulting in one of them being a pick-six.

With the immense talent and speed that Brown brings to SoCal, he can play just about anywhere and succeed. It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if we do see him play on both sides of the ball. However, cornerback is where he is most likely to stick as he makes his transition into the collegiate level.

Whatever kind of production that Prophet can bring to USC will be a welcome addition after the school wasn’t able to add any defensive backs in 2020.
