UCLA News: Top Offensive Lineman Thomas Cole Joins Bruin 2021 Recruiting Class

UCLA’s future just got a little bit brighter with the commitment of the top tackle in California. Thomas Cole who hails from San Luis Obispo passed up other offers from Cal, Oregon, Arizona, and Michigan to join the Bruins in 2021.

Cole who has been rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports provides a huge boost for the Bruins as they have had trouble recruiting offensive linemen in the past and have struggled to gain many top recruits for next year’s recruiting class. Cole brings a massive 6-foot-7, 265-pound frame to go along with great athleticism at the position. Granted the soon the be senior only has one year of offensive line experience under is belt after converting from being a tight end, he plays very aggressive and has shown his athleticism on the basketball court as well. Just take a look at some of his highlights that show him consistently getting the job done while completely dominating anyone in his way. If he can do that now, just imagine what he can do when he adds more strength to go along with higher-level coaching at UCLA.

When asked what made UCLA stick out above his other offers, Cole had only great things to say about how he loves the campus, and the direction the program is heading with the coaching staff they have there.

“I had a great relationship with coach Frye. He’s a great coach and a great teacher and I love the way he communicates. I was probably closer with him than any other coach and I love Westwood too.  It’s an awesome place and I have a strong comfort level there.”

With Cole eventually getting to work with the coaching staff and future teammates to improve his game, even more, I’m pretty sure Westwood will start to love him too. He has a lot of potential to be a big impact for the Bruins in 2021 and beyond, but for now, we’ll have to hope we can see him in action again for his senior season.
