Rams: Matthew Stafford Already Embracing His New Team

Despite a handful of winning seasons and a trip the Super Bowl in 2018, the Rams decided it was time for a change under center. In January the team pulled the trigger on a deal that sent Jared Goff and a package of draft picks to the Detroit Lions for quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Stafford has been the Lions starting QB since 2009 after they drafted him first overall in the NFL Draft. However, after being surrounded with mediocracy for the past couple of seasons, the 33-year old signal caller requested to be traded to a contending team. While the deal isn’t official until the 2021 league year begins on March 21, that hasn’t stopped Stafford and his family from already repping his new team.

Matthew’s wife Kelly shared multiple pictures on social media that included the couple wearing Rams baseball caps while vacationing this offseason.

Stafford will get his chance to compete for a team with championship aspirations as the Rams have made the playoffs several times in the past couple of seasons. Although he is six years older than Goff, Stafford is one of the league’s most underrated quarterbacks. Pairing his rocket arm and ability to work in and out of the pocket should provide the Rams with a needed upgrade. Stafford will have plenty of weapons as his disposal this upcoming season to achieve what he couldn’t while in Detroit.
