Rams News: Brandon Staley Hired as Chargers New Head Coach

Brandon Staley turned into the biggest pickup for the Rams from the 2019-2020 offseason. While it helps to have players like Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald, Staley has turned the Rams defense into force to be reckoned with. Yes, they have faltered at times, and one could argue that they are partially to blame for the Rams loss against the Packers, but they were still the best defense in the league this past season.

Unfortunately, Staley’s time with the Rams has come to an end. However, he won’t be leaving the city of Los Angeles as his new employer shares Sofi Stadium. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Chargers have hired him as their next head coach after parting ways with former leader Anthony Lynn.

There’s no doubt the loss of Staley is a big blow for the Rams. However, with two great football minds now spearheading the operations of both LA teams, a real rivalry for the city may emerge. The Chargers have had a mediocre 2020 season as they finished third in the AFC West with a 7-9 record. They do boast a considerable amount of talent, especially rookie quarterback Justin Herbert.

Best of luck to Brandon Staley, and thank you for all that you did for the Rams.
