Rams News: LA Locks Down Cornerback Jalen Ramsey With a Massive Deal

The highly anticipated move that man Rams fans were waiting for all offseason has finally happened just one day before the start of the 2020 NFL season. That move of course was the signing of Jalen Ramsey to a 5-year extension worth $105 million with $ 71.2 million of that guaranteed.

Locking up Ramsey for the long run was a top priority for Les Snead and Co. after they paid an immense price to acquire him from the Jacksonville Jaguars in October of 2019. The 25-year old should provide stability to the cornerback position for years to come and only boost the chances of the Rams surpassing all expectations this year. The Rams have the ninth-best rated secondary in the league and there’s no doubt that it group could find itself higher in the rankings come the season’s end.

Over his first four seasons in the NFL, the young cornerback has produced 10 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 243 total tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, and a defensive touchdown. Such production early on has placed Ramsey in the conversation as one of the best cornerbacks in the game today. While that is always up for debate, his extension sure isn’t as it is the largest contract to a defensive back in NFL history.

Catch Ramsey with his new contract along with the rest of the Rams kick off their 2020 season Sunday @5:20 pm on NBC.
