Rams fans should be delighted to hear that a movie about former Rams QB Kurt Warner is in the works!
Entertainment Weekly announced earlier today that Shazam! actor Zachary Levi will take on the role of Warner in American Underdog. The movie will be a faith-based biopic about the HOF QB’s rise to national stardom playing for teams like the Rams and Cardinals.
The film will take inspirations from Warner’s life outside of football as well. Everything from his early years stocking shelves at a local supermarket to becoming a two-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl champ.
When interviewed, Levi had much to say about Warner and the role itself.
“Kurt’s story is one of relentless faith – in his own abilities but even more so in a higher power. When I read Kurt’s story, I identified with the quiet strength he found to persevere – that’s something I think anybody can recognize in their own lives. This is the kind of underdog story that sports movies are all about, and the fact that it’s true makes it even more special. I’m thrilled to be part of bringing his story to audiences.”
Production on American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story is expected to begin production later this year.
