Rams Draft: LA Adds OLB Terrell Lewis with the 84th Pick

After upgrading their offense by drafting running back Cam Akers and Wide Receiver Van Jefferson, the Rams then turned to try and solidly their defense. With the 84th pick in the draft and their third one, the Rams selected Alabama outside Linebacker, Terrell Lewis.

Lewis has missed significant time over the past couple of years due to injuries but has delivered when he’s been healthy.  After losing Littleton, Matthews, and Fowler Jr. on the defensive side, Lewis projects to ease those losses.

During his 2019 season, Lewis had 11.5 tackles for a loss and accumulated six sacks.

The edge rusher figures to torment opposing quarterbacks with his quick first step and massive 6’5”, 262-pound frame. Whether on the line of scrimmage or off the ball, Lewis can get it done. His athleticism and fluid movement will also help him to drop into coverage and scan the field. With his long arms and great extension, he can clear any blockers and have an open path to the ball-carrier.

Although his health comes with a question mark, the new Ram’s linebacker is an exciting get who can eventually produce double-digit sacks over the course of a season. The Rams defense figures to be a much better group with the likes of Lewis. They have the personnel to allow him to ease into the game if they want to develop him or they can immediately insert him and see if he can produce.
