Rams News: Brandin Cooks and Future Pick Sent to Texans for 57th Pick in this Year’s Draft

What a difference a year makes. This offseason has seen the Rams move on from Todd Gurley, Clay Matthews, and now Brandin Cooks.

The two teams are finalizing a trade that would send Cooks and a 2022 4th round pick to Houston while sending the Texan’s 2nd round pick this year to Los Angeles. The news was first broken by Ian Rapoport Thursday afternoon as the two teams were finalizing the details of the trade.

For the Texans, Cooks is a clear replacement for the recently shipped out DeAndre Hopkins. He will slot in perfectly as the number 1 receiver for Houston.

For the Rams, Cooks had an underwhelming season after a brilliant 2018, and management clearly felt it was better to cut ties and focus on other options. While Cooks is still only 26 years old, he has had a history of injuries that have kept him off the field and limited his ability to be a real difference-maker on offense. The question now is where does the team go from here?

With the Rams slated to open a new stadium this season, many fans expected the team to go all out in an effort to find their way back to the Super Bowl. Instead, fans are left wondering what direction the team is taking and who on earth approved those new logos.

Hopefully, the draft will provide some answers to at least one of those two questions.
