Welcome to another roundup, where we gather all of LA sports’ biggest stories of the day!
The Dodgers have gotten off to a rather unremarkable start to the season, thanks in no small part to the sluggish performance out of last year’s NL MVP. While they wait for Bellinger to return to form, it has been up to others to step up and keep the offense going in the meantime. AJ Pollock has been one of those that have looked exceptional in his absence, especially considering how much he has been through to get to this point. After countless injuries kept him out of rhythm in 2019, the start to this season has been much more promising for Pollock. If he can remain healthy for all 60 games, the Dodgers lineup just got a little bit deeper.
In the NBA, the Lakers have been in search of a consistent third scorer all season long. Their long list of role players have all contributed at various points this year, but the playoffs will require a more defined role when LeBron and AD are on the bench. In last nights game against the Clippers, Kyle Kuzma made his case to be that third option, as he did it all in a narrow Lakers victory. If he can maintain the intensity that he had last night, the Lakers may have their guy.
The NFL has finally made it to training camps, and the Rams have a few special ideas in store for theirs. Training camp is usually an opportunity for fans to see their favorite players outside of the game environment, and this season will mark a unique moment in the league’s history. In order to keep fans involved, the Rams will be hosting a virtual tailgate on August 9th with various special guests lined up to make an appearance.
