LA Roundup: Remembering Puig, The Clippers’ Route to the Playoffs, USC May Have a Heisman Candidate, and More!

With the news that the NBA is on the comeback trail, it’s time to look towards what awaits us. Yesterday we broke down the Lakers path through their remaining schedule, and today we focus on the Clippers. With the recently made changes, the Clippers will have a softer schedule, allowing them to focus on team chemistry. They have had plenty of rest, so the biggest goal should be cohesiveness. Either way, expect them to make a deep playoff run and face off against the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals!

USC was named the best quarterback school after having some top names pass through the program. While no one had Kedon Slovis on this list, last year proved that he may be worthy of consideration. He had a brilliant freshman season and is looking to build on that with a team that returns mostly intact. He has made such big strides that some analysts are now considering him a sleeper pick for the Heisman award. Only time will tell if they are correct, but expect great things from Slovis next season.

7 years ago, the Dodgers called up a young Cuban by the name of Yasiel Puig. It was at that moment that a star was born, at least temporarily. That 2013 season by Puig will forever go down as one of the greatest feats in Dodgers history, simply because it started the string of playoff berths we are currently still riding. His worth to Los Angeles has been incredible both on and off the field, and we will forever remember him fondly.

On this day in 1967, a new era began as the Los Angeles Kings were formed as a part of the NHL expansion. Their history has been filled with highs and lows, but through it all, LA has supported their home team with pride. It’s been 53 years since their debut, and hopefully, the next 53 are filled with more memories and more championships!
