LA Roundup: MLB Proposal Could Benefit Dodgers, Magic’s Take on a Kobe Documentary, Rams Confident in Rookie Akers, and More!

With each passing day, it feels like we are getting closer to seeing baseball being played once again. The latest proposal up for consideration would see teams play in doubleheaders once or twice to make up for lost time. This idea, while extreme, would benefit a deep team like the Dodgers who have the personnel needed for it to work. The Dodgers are truly 40 players deep, with everyone on the active roster able to contribute at any given time. If this is the route that baseball takes for 2020, the Dodgers will be ready.

The boys in blue could also see their home field soon, if reports are accurate. One of MLB’s proposals is to have teams hold an abbreviated spring training at their own facilities. This would allow for teams to train while returning to their own homes every day and would eliminate the need for hotels and other services. While this wouldn’t allow for much competitive gameplay before the regular season, it serves the purpose of warming players up before games start to count. All proposals are welcome at this point, and it seems that MLB is quite fond of this one.

In basketball news, Laker legend Magic Johnson gave his thoughts on a potential Kobe Bryant documentary that could be in the works. Much like Michael Jordan, Kobe had his final season documented by a camera crew. This ensured that one day, the world could look behind the curtain at one of the greatest careers ever. Magic definitely sees it happening in the near future and acknowledges that it would be a side of him no one’s ever seen before.

Lastly, we took a look at Rams’ rookie Cam Akers. The team took a real gamble on another running back with their first pick in the draft, hoping for a Todd Gurley replacement. Rams’ GM Les Snead seems to believe that Akers has all the tools necessary for the job. After finding success behind a terrible offensive line at Florida State, Akers has shown the skills necessary to succeed at the next level. All fans can do is hope Snead and McVay are correct in their analysis.
