LA Roundup: Rams’ Fiery New Addition, Chargers’ QB Situation, Aaron Donald the Scholar, and More!

The world as a whole is itching to return to some normalcy, and it is no different here in Los Angeles. Sports leagues are looking for ways to resume and our LA teams are ready to get to work.

One of the newest members of the Rams, linebacker Clay Johnston, has shown nothing but energy since joining the squad. In every interview he has done, the kid makes it known that he is pumped just to have an opportunity. An injury his senior season cause him to slide down draft boards, but this may have helped the Rams grab a talented young player.

In other Rams news, Pro-Bowler Aaron Donald has now added another achievement to his name. The defensive wizard announced Monday that he has officially completed his requirements and was now a Pitt graduate. Donald had maintained that he was committed to returning to school to finish his degree, and now he can cross that off the list. Cheers to the big man on another achievement.

LA’s other football team picked up some young talent of their own, but none bigger than their new QB, Justin Herbert. Herbert is expected by many to be the teams starting quarterback next season, but that may not be the case. Coach Anthony Lynn had some cryptic words about the situation and would not commit to Herbert just yet. More than likely, he just doesn’t want to tip his hand, but there may be some storylines out of Chargers camp the remainder of the offseason.

In baseball, we are slowly getting closer to real decisions being made about the upcoming season. With so many proposals being thrown around, players have been asked their thoughts, and Dodger’s pitcher Ross Stripling is finally starting to accept them. The thought of leaving behind family and friends for months at a time seems so drastic, but the hope is that this would only be the case early on. In the end, it seems that the players will do what needs to be done in order to ensure a season is played.

Lastly, we received word that the Lakers were among the businesses to apply for a federal loan to support their employees. They were granted $4.6 million in total, but decided to return it after seeing that the budget for the loans had run out. The team put out a statement saying that they wanted it to go to those most in need and that they were still committed to helping their employees. Good on them for realizing others needed those funds more than they did.
