LA Roundup: Chargers Have a New Look, A New Hope for Dodgers Baseball, Lebron for MVP, and More!

Tuesday was a busy day here in Los Angeles as football news was out in full force across all levels.

The Chargers released their highly anticipated new uniforms for the 2020 season. Overall, everyone was quite pleased with the product, as players and fans alike voiced their opinions online. Safe to say, one of the best looking uniforms in the league belongs to the Chargers.

LA is also the proud owner of the number 6 overall pick in Thursday’s draft, which they hope to use to draft the next face of the franchise. We made the argument as to whether they should consider trading up in order to secure the player most people think they want, Tua Tagovailoa.

In basketball-related news, Clipper’s head coach Doc Rivers announced yesterday that he was joining the ‘All-In’ Challenge by offering a complete Clippers game package. The winner would receive 4 tickets to a Clippers game, get to be an assistant coach for the day, and even get to take part in pre/post-game interviews! He is the latest LA sports figure to join the challenge to give back to the most needy.

As for the Dodgers, Tuesday offered some optimistic news out of multiple camps. Commissioner Manfred expressed that he fully believes the season will still take place. This would be good news for LA after their blockbuster trade to bring Price and Betts to the team. Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts also offered his thoughts on how a shortened season might benefit the team in the end. The Dodgers also announced an initiative with the Angels to get their event staff paid during this shutdown. The proposal will pay Dodgers Stadium event staff a combined $1.3 million while they are unable to work.

In college sports, we learned that USC currently holds a top 5 spot for the recruitment class of 2021. This is a fantastic change from recent offseasons in which they failed to have a top-ranked class. The future looks bright for the Trojans.

Finally, we took a look at why Lebron deserves to win the MVP Award for the currently suspended season. If not for him, the Lakers would be nowhere near the top of the NBA standings. While Giannis has offered some fierce competition, there is no doubt for Angelenos that James has been more valuable to his squad.
