Wildcats News: XFL Cancels the Remainder of the 2020 Season

The Los Angeles Wildcats will have to wait at least one more year to get back to a championship season. The XFL announced today that the remainder of the season will be canceled in the wake of the COVID-10 Pandemic.

In a post to Twitter, the XFL announced that their first season since 2001 was going to have to be suspended. The COVID-19 outbreak has caused essentially all sports to stop operations, and the XFL was no exception. The Los Angeles Wildcats were not off to the best start, winning two and losing three. At the time of the suspension of games, the Wildcats were in third place in the XFL West.

But there were certainly things to be excited about with the Wildcats. Quarterback Josh Johnson was second in the league with 1076 passing yards in five games. He was also second in touchdowns to PJ Walker with eleven. Receiver Tre McBride was another bright spot early on in this season. He hauled in sixteen passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns.

In the statement to fans, the XFL made it seem that the league was set to eventually return.

When our teams return to the field, we’ll make every effort to ensure your faith in us is rewarded with even more fun and excitement.

At this point, it is not known whether or not the XFL will be able to survive another season with the cancelation.
