Lakers News: Kobe Honored At 2020 BET Awards By Lil Wayne’s Performance

The BET Awards was this past Sunday and if you didn’t tune in, you missed a very touching tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.

Lil Wayne paid tribute to The Black Mamba by performing his song “Kobe Bryant” which he wrote back in 2009. He did, however, changed up a few lyrics in honor of both Kobe and his daughter Gigi’s passing.

You can watch the touching tribute here:

Weezy debuted a new music video for the song and performed it in front of a giant screen with Kobe’s name on it. Still touching none the less. There was no live audience this year due to the pandemic so everything from the awards show was done virtually.

Kobe’s wife Vanessa Bryant saw the performance and called it a “beautiful tribute” on her Instagram page.

The Mamba, Gianna, and 7 others lost their lives in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.
