As NBA teams are opening their practice facilities, sixteen teams have either already begun or will be open for voluntary workouts as of Monday. It was reportedly announced on Saturday that the NBA would reduce training camp from 4-5 weeks to 2-3 weeks.

This news did not sit well with Lakers forward, Jared Dudley. On Twitter, Dudley responded to the NBA’s decision, and said,

“Anything less then 4 weeks heightens the percentages of athletes getting serious injuries.. Ask any NBA trainer…”

Dudley’s main concern with the NBA’s decision was players getting injured due to not being conditioned enough. Although NBA players are training and conditioning while in quarantine, some players have said that they would need the training camp to get back into the flow and get back into game shape.

Dudley was also one of the first NBA players who voted ‘yes’ on whether or not they want to try and play again this season? He said safety first but added that nowhere would be as safe as the NBA compound. Dudley, and many other NBA players, are eager to get back on the basketball court and compete for the coveted trophy.

Before the NBA season was suspended, the Lakers had a comfortable 5.5 game lead over the Clippers for first place in the Western Conference. If the NBA season returns, it will be without fans, but the fans, players, and NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, want an NBA team to be crowned champion if done safely.
