Lakers News: Lakers Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Donates To California Hospital

There seems to be no shortage of good deeds being done by celebrities when it comes to helping others during the COVID-19 pandemic. The growth of those individuals helping has now extended to 19-time NBA All-Star and Lakers Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

On Monday, Abdul-Jabbar donated 900 pairs of safety googles to medical workers at Scripps Health in San Diego, CA to help with protection from COVID-19. In a big act of respect, Abdul-Jabbar delivered the googles himself to the hospital while wearing a safety mask and gloves.

The Lakers Legend then provided a video with the following statement about his gesture:

“Hi, I’m Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I want to thank all the doctors, nurses and medical professionals at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. You guys are awesome because you’re risking everything to help the public the way you are, and I’d like to do my part. So I’ve authorized my team to use my name, image and likeness to source high-quality medical products, such as these safety goggles, so you guys can look as good as I did when I played.”

Along with this gesture, the Lakers Legend has been active with sending out encouraging messages to those that are helping others with the tag #TeamLA.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a 6-time NBA champion with the Milwaukee Bucks (1) and the Los Angeles Lakers (5) along with 6 NBA MVP’s and league all-time leader in points with 38,387.
