Lakers: Update for Anthony Davis on COVID-19 Testing

The NBA was the first major sport to shut down amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It all kicked off when Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive, and since then a number of players have also tested positive. Since that time three weeks ago, players across basketball have gotten tests done out of precaution. The Lakers had most of their team tested this month after four Nets players also tested positive.

One of the Lakers’ stars, Anthony Davis, shared his results with the LA Times’ Tania Ganguli. Davis took the test after Brooklyn players tested positive, and it turns out he is just fine.

I knew right away we would probably get tested. It’s kind of tricky because some guys, you feel fine and you could have it, asymptomatic. And some guys you have all the symptoms. I felt fine and I felt great. I still do. [At the time] I was like that doesn’t mean I don’t have it. We all showed up and took the test. It was fine.

The only fears that Davis had it came from the fact that the Lakers played against the Nets. Most other players have not shared any information on their testing, leading us to believe that most, if not all of them, also tested negative.

Anthony Davis recently made a commitment of up to $250,000 to donate to meals for medical workers in a partnership with Lineage Logistics.
