You could sense it from the opening kick: LAFC was on a mission Monday night. After their incredible 2019 season came to an end at the hands of the Seattle Sounders, this team was hungry for a different result and a little payback. And even without Carlos Vela, they made quick work of Seattle in dominant fashion as they took an easy 4-1 victory.

Having beaten the team that ended their run last season, the biggest mental hurdle is now behind them. This was clearly a game that every LAFC player had circled on their calendar the moment it was announced, and they did not take it lightly. Now that Seattle is behind them, LAFC faces a much clearer path to the championship.

Diego Rossi continued to make his case for the tournament MVP as he scored his 6th and 7th goals to continue to lead the pack. The first came in the form of a penalty kick in the early stages of the match, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.

Brian Rodriguez also continued his breakout tournament with the goal that sealed the victory in the 89th minute. From the opening tip, it was LAFC’s game to dominate.

What’s Next for LAFC

LAFC’s quarterfinals matchup with Orlando City FC will take place on Friday, July 31st at 4:30 PT on FS1
