Kings News: Los Angeles Voted Best Game 7 Playoff Win

Things may not be going right for the Los Angeles Kings as of late, or the sports world for that matter. The team went 29-35 before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, they were forced to start trading away franchise cornerstones from seventh place in the Pacific Division.

But at least they have one good thing going for them in the midst of all of this. in a three-person vote, the Kings were voted as having the best Game Seven win in a playoff series by NHL writers. Both Dan Rosen and Tom Gulitti felt that the Kings game seven win over the Blackhawks in the 2014 Conference Finals was one for the ages. Tom Gulitti had this to say about the series.

I had flights booked to each city, and the seesaw nature of the game made it impossible to predict which one I’d need until Martinez scored the overtime winner at 11:10 p.m. ET. Martinez was the hero again in the Cup Final against New York

So yes, it might suck to be a Kings fan right now. The franchise just traded away Tyler Toffoli to Vancouver, Kyle Clifford to Toronto, and Alec Martinez to Vegas.  But at least we all have this one crowning achievement from the hiatus to hang out hats on.

Hockey will be back again sports fans, never fear.
