Before Trevor Bauer chose to return home to sunny Southern California, there were reports that the Mets were a top suitor for his services. In fact, Bauer fueled some of these reports as subtle references to New York appeared on his website which sparked rumors that he had chosen the Mets over the Dodgers.
Of course, Bauer who has been known to be a troll on the internet shifted his decision to become a Dodger. You can imagine how Mets fans may have felt after having their hopes crushed. To make up for the pain he caused, the reigning Cy Young winner apologized and promised to donate $40,000 to New York-based nonprofits.

Although it may have been a nice peace offering, Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard wasn’t ready to let Bauer off of the hook so easily. The 28-year old pitcher proceeded to start on Twitter with his almost teammate.
And then he said……”I’m sorry I chose another team but I’ll donate to your charities!” https://t.co/Kxkje5Uqn2

When mistakes are made, you try to make them right. I know you wouldn’t know anything about making mistakes though. Hope rehab is treating you well. Was good to see you back throwing. https://t.co/MI0Clq567u

Also, @Noahsyndergaard, try to treat the fans better. They’re what makes our game go. No place for personal insults, especially about someone else’s wife. pic.twitter.com/I3FaZbR224

The two pitchers did not hold back in their remarks of one another and fans were certainly glued to action every step of the way. What makes this exchange of words even more interesting is the fact that the Dodgers and Mets are set to face off during the season and possibly even the postseason. Even after missing out on a couple big name free agents, the team was still able to bolster their rotation and bring in shortstop Francisco Lindor. They’re now seen as a contender in the NL East. Syndergaard who is recovering from Tommy John Surgery, is scheduled to return by the end of the summer which would be just in time to get the chance to matchup against Bauer and fuel this scuffle even more.
