Dodgers: Jacob Amaya Receives Non-Roster Invite to 2021 Spring Training

Only two weeks remain until the start of Spring Training, and the Dodgers are wasting no time filling out their Spring Training roster.

While they have yet to fill out their 40-man, the team has begun extending non-roster invitations to other minor league players within their system, including one of their top prospects in Jacob Amaya.

Amaya was drafted by the Dodgers back in 2017 out of South Hills High School(CA) and has quickly become one of the team’s top infield prospects. He worked his way through three levels of the minor leagues between 2017-2019 and is expected to begin the 2021 season at AA Tulsa. This marks Amaya’s second Spring Training invitation, with last year’s camp being cut short due to the pandemic.

With the Dodgers still facing questions at third and second base heading into the season, there could be a path for Amaya to move up the pecking order rather quickly in 2021. A strong showing in Spring Training would be the first step, but expect to hear much more about the young infielder as he continues to impress.
