Dodgers News: Brandon Morrow Returns to LA on Minor League Deal

The 2017 season doesn’t hold a lot of happy memories for Dodger fans as that was the year the team fell to the Astros, who were later revealed to have been stealing signs throughout the season. One of the bright spots during that season was reliever Brandon Morrow who finished the year with 50 strikeouts and a 2.06 ERA in 43.2 innings. However, that would be the only season Morrow would ever pitch for the Dodgers, or so we thought.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Dodgers and Brandon Morrow have agreed to terms on a minor-league deal. Morrow is headed back to the City of Angels.

The Dodgers were wise not to re-sign Morrow as he has not pitched in a game since 2018 due to injuries. However, in the 30.2 innings that he was healthy, the former Dodger put up a 1.47 ERA with 31 strikeouts and 9 walks.

During his time in LA, Morrow was a dependable arm for Dave Roberts to rely on. Although he may have relied on him too much in the playoffs which led to some preventable mistakes. His return would be a welcome addition to a bullpen that lost Blake Treinen and Pedro Baez to free agency. If Los Angeles can work its magic and get him back on track, then the rest of the league would tremble at the thought of facing the Dodgers in the later innings. A bullpen filled with the likes of Morrow, Corey Knebel, Brusdar Graterol, Kenley Jansen, Victor Gonzalez, and so on would be devastating to opposing lineups. Welcome back, Brandon Morrow!
