MLB News: Former Dodger Yasiel Puig Tests Positive For COVID-19, Not Signing With Atlanta

Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig announced earlier today that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Puig said that he’s asymptomatic and is actually feeling fine. He would need 2 positive tests before he can be eligible to return though. Which brings another issue for Puig in lines of returning to play ball again. It looks like the Atlanta Braves will not be signing Puig after all now. Earlier this week, the Braves announced they had reached an agreement with the free-agent outfielder, but according to multiple sources they never actually finalized the deal. This could be the reason why.

It is some pretty sad news for the talented outfielder. Puig looked like he had finally found a way to play ball again after a very stale winter for him. He’s been a free agent since the end of last season where he last played for the Cleveland Indians. Before that Puig was in a Reds uniform when he was traded there by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018.

Hopefully, Puig can bounce back and return to form after all this. Although he has had some issues both on and off the field, watching Puig play was pretty fun. There is no clear indication that the Braves or any other team for that matter will pick up The Wild Horse once he clears this coronavirus issue. Even is he does regain his health, he probably won’t be able to return until at least August.

Get better soon Wid Horse, I’m sure we’ll see you on that grassy outfield once again.
