On Wednesday night, Dodger Stadium kept its lights on in honor of George Floyd for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.
NBC tweeted out the image for all to see in a video:

We are all aware of Floyd’s death and people around the world are expressing how they feel. I’m not going to get into the details again on Mr. Floyd’s passing since many already know.
The stadium lights were left on for nearly 9 minutes to signify the time that Floyd was facedown on the ground. The Dodgers made a statement on the sign of respect:
“Tonight, the Dodgers joined families across Los Angeles in shining our Dodger Stadium lights into the sky at 9 p.m. for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in recognition of George Floyd. The Dodgers join all Angelenos in this peaceful display of unity to shine a light in the darkness.”
All over the world, athletes and celebrities have spoken out about racial injustice and police brutality. Many people across the world have taken the streets in protests as well. Seeing unity while the world has already been in a dark place so early in the year is hopefully light at the end of the tunnel.
