LA News: Tips and Advice for COVID-19 Testing at Dodger Stadium

See bottom of the article to find out how you can schedule your Covid-19 Testing appointment at Dodger Stadium.

For the first time in a long time, the people of Los Angeles turn to Dodger Stadium. However, the reason has nothing to do with Dodger baseball.

LA County shut down many, if not all, Covid-19 testing centers on Monday and Tuesday due to the civil unrest following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. The ensuing protests, both peaceful and riotous, have created a situation deemed unsafe for testing, according to local officials.

The Los Angeles Fire Department announced the Covid-19 Testing Center at Dodger Stadium will remain open. LAFD’s announcement made the stadium the largest testing center in Los Angeles. With the capacity to issue about six thousand tests on a daily basis, Chavez Ravine will accommodate all appointments scheduled at now-closed testing sites. With the addition of these tests, it is conceivable the testing center may have come close to maxing it’s allotted six thousand tests per day.

According to the experiences from the Reddit thread above, the experience can last anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours—all with an appointment. The consensus seems to show that earlier appointment times lead to a quicker testing experience.

As for the testing itself, here’s how a Reddit user described the process:

It’s unclear as to when other testing centers will reopen. For now, Dodger Stadium remains a place of respite for Los Angeles’ weary at heart.

To register for an appointment at Dodger Stadium, visit the City of LA’s Covid-19 testing website, or call the hotline at (213) 978-1028. The stadium is asking that you enter through Gate B on Scott Avenue.
