Dodgers: 2020 Stadium Renovations Reportedly Going Smoothly

Last season it was announced that Dodger Stadium would undergo a $100M facelift during the off-season as Los Angles prepares to host it’s first MLB All-Star game in 40 years. President Stan Kasten assured fans that while the stadium renovations would be a dramatic overhaul, the stadium would still maintain its endearing and classic feel.

Dodgers VP Janet Marie Smith explained this vision in detail last month in a great update piece with Alanna Rizzo and Spectrum SportsNet LA.

In a follow up column by Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, Gurnick discusses the plans for the renovations and provides some valuable quotes on how the construction is going.

Importantly, according to Smith, the plans are on target:

“We are on target, but we don’t have a minute to spare.”

Now YouTube user John Kay provides an aerial video of where the stadium renovations are as of this month.

Construction has been stalled by multiple rainstorms this off-season, but things remain on-track, per the organization. Still there is one change to the norm this January at Dodger Stadium… this winter the club’s annual FanFest will be held in the outer parking lot area instead of on the grass in centerfield.

The Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants for Opening Day 2020 on Thursday, March 26. That leaves less than two and a half months to get Dodger Stadium game ready for a national unveiling on ESPN. Keep your fingers crossed.
