Dodgers: Rich Hill Wins Tony Conigliaro Award for Determination

Rich Hill is an amazing person and has an amazing story. He is the true definition of perseverance in both his career with injuries and in life with the loss of his son Brooks Hill.

According to Ian Browne of MLB.com, Rich Hill will be honored for that perseverance. Hill is set to receive the Tony Conigliaro Award which is given to players who overcome adversity. He will be accepting the award on January 16 in Boston, where he is from.

As fans, we know the hard work and fearlessness that Rich Hill has put on display every time he has stepped out onto the mound. Now, he gets deservedly recognized at a more national level.

The stories regarding his fight to get to the big leagues, get through the independent leagues, and defy Father Time provide inspiration for professional ballplayers at all levels.

Hill is a free agent this winter after spending the last three and a half seasons with the Dodgers. And while he’s currently recovering from an off-season elbow surgery, he’s determined to fight his way back to the big leagues once again.

He was excellent in his time with Los Angeles, and the club is reportedly still looking to possibly bring him back. Putting his ability to pitch aside, Hill is a model figure for young players within the Dodgers organization and with the team seemingly growing younger with top prospects, Hill’s presence in the clubhouse is a necessary asset.
