Dodgers Free Agency: Industry Belief is LA Will Seriously Pursue Gerrit Cole, per Feinsand

The MLB General Manager Meetings don’t begin until this week but that hasn’t stopped any free agency and trade rumors.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the industry belief is that the Dodgers are expected to make a strong push for free-agent starting pitcher Gerrit Cole.

The belief within the industry is that the Angels, Dodgers and Yankees are the three teams most likely to seriously pursue Cole.

Feinsand also notes the Yankees and Angels will also make a push for Cole’s services. The Astros have publically stated they will get involved in the bidding but they are in a tougher financial situation and have the depth ready to replace him.

Cole, 29, is considered the top free agent on the market after his Cy Young caliber 2019 where he posted a 2.50 ERA, 2.64 FIP, 13.82 K/9, 2.03 BB/9 and 7.4 fWAR in 212 1/3 innings pitched. He holds a career 3.22 ERA, 3.06 FIP, 10.06 K/9, 2.37 BB/9 and 28.8 fWAR in 1,195 innings.

This is not the first time Cole has been connected to the Dodgers. Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that the Dodgers love both Cole and Anthony Rendon.
