Dodgers: Enrique Hernandez Participates in Home Run Challenge

Video game publisher Activision teamed up with Dodgers super utility player Kiké Hernandez to promote their new reboot of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” for PC and console. Thankfully for Dodger fans, the collaboration was very baseball centric.

We go to Hernandez’s Instagram page for the video.

Yes, the challenge was for Kiké to hit a home run in the dark while wearing night vision goggles. Spoiler alert — if you didn’t watch the above video — he successfully connected for the dinger.

Some fun factors in this video:

  • The uniform is pretty on point, even if it’s similar to the 2019 Player’s Weekend threads that were widely panned by players and fans
  • Enrique’s position is astutely labeled as “utility”
  • The video impressively incorporates Stat Cast numbers for a number of values
    • Pitch Velo: 86 MPH
    • Bat Speed: 84 MPH
    • Exit Velo: 103.8 MPH
    • Launch Angle: 30.1 degrees
    • Distance: 415 ft

More tidbits from the video include the coordinates of 33.8866° N. 117.8855° W. which puts the location at Cal State Fullerton’s Goodwin Field.

While Hernandez is not widely known as a premiere gamer on the Dodgers — that honor would fall to Cody Bellinger (who brings his monitor with him on flights) — it’s still cool to see this collab with a Dodger.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
