Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw Signs Shoe Deal with Skechers, Will Wear in Postseason

According to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times, the great Clayton Kershaw has signed a shoe deal with — not Jordan, Nike, New Balance, or Adidas — but with Skechers.

This is pretty interesting, but with Clayton Kershaw in tow, Skechers could very well utilize him as the face of their brand in an effort to further immerse themselves in the sporting goods market.

Skechers is reportedly supplying Kershaw with cleats to wear for the 2019 postseason and Kershaw will put pen to paper on his new endorsement deal on Wednesday. The cleats will have a customization labeled ‘CCC’ for his two children Cali and Charley, as well as a child who is on the way.

As Shaikin notes within his column, Skechers does not sell baseball cleats and they might never do so. However, they made a customized cleat just for Clayton Kershaw.

The Skechers brand also reportedly plans to release a Clayton Kershaw training shoe in the near future. Kershaw remains the only professional baseball player signed with Skechers and is one of just 28 professional athletes in the world endorsed by the brand.

Kershaw is now in the second half of his career and this endorsement deal could represent forward-thinking on behalf of himself and his agency at Excel Sports Management.

Kershaw will make the formal announcement on Wednesday, one day prior to the beginning of the NLDS against the Washington Nationals.
