Dodgers: Cody Bellinger Talks About Franchise Record Win Total

Start spreading the news – the 2019 Los Angeles Dodgers won 106 games – more than any in team history. Moreover, let’s think about what it’s like to be Cody Bellinger for a moment. It’s your third year in baseball, and you have already played for two teams that have been to the World Series. Within those three years, you have won an NLCS MVP, twice been an All-Star, and possibly an MVP in 2019.

Now, Bellinger is part of the franchise winningest team in history. Already, he’s built quite a resume in the game of baseball. Following the regular season finale in San Francisco, he talked to Bill Plunkett of the OC Register about the feat.

Equally important, he sounds like a veteran Bellinger with this quote; doesn’t he?

“That’s pretty incredible, obviously with the history of this organization and everything. It’s a really special year, and there’s more to be done.”

Cody Bellinger, baseball historian ladies and gentleman. Moreover, Bellinger has been on great teams like this one before. Furthermore, he finishes the season as a .305 hitter; and as mentioned has an excellent shot to be named Most Valuable Player of the NL in a month or so.

However Bellinger realizes that the Dodgers winning 106 games could only be a footnote if they don’t finish this off with the item that eludes them. Of course, that would be winning the final game played on the schedule in October.

Still, it’s great to hear the Dodgers best player speak on their best season ever at it’s final conclusion. Without question, they were not just good from start to finish; they were great. You cannot win 106 games without being exceptional in many areas.

Finally, there are areas the 2019 Dodgers are not exceptional; or at least they weren’t for phases. It is a testament to their grit and sheer will to win that many games without everything going just right. Perhaps it could be said that the Dodgers emulated Bellinger on a larger scale.

The overall body of work was beyond excellent, even historic. Surely, there were peaks and valleys. But the consistency over the long haul allowed the cream to rise to the top. Individuals will never forget the 2019 Dodgers and their 106 wins.
