Dodgers: Cody Bellinger Sets Franchise Home Run Record at Home

Dodgers slugger, and two-time All-Star Cody Bellinger is in the home stretch of a possible MVP season. If voters for the award are looking for one more mark to add to Belli’s ledger, look no further. With his 45th home run on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, he broke a 63 year-old franchise record for home runs at home.

It was his 26th home home run of the season.

Number 26 bests Brooklyn’s Gil Hodges and Duke Snider’s tallies from the mid-50’s. Not to go unmentioned, but Joc Pederson is 2 behind Bellinger with 3 games to play at their home ballpark.

The outfielder/first baseman remains 4 home runs behind Shawn Green for the all-time single season mark.

Home run number 45 also established a new National League record by age for an outfielder, besting Giants legend Willie Mays.

Despite second half struggles, Bellinger is still posting a 162 wRC+ in 2019. Moreover, he leads the Dodgers in batting average (.305), on-base percentage (.408), slugging (.631), home runs (45), RBI (110), and runs scored (115).

He’s tied for 3rd place with Anaheim’s Mike Trout, and Kansas City’s Jorge Soler with 45 homers — Mets rookie Pete Alonso leads MLB with 49 home runs, tying Mark McGwire’s rookie record from 1987

Cody’s 115 runs scored are good for 5th in all of baseball, and his 110 runs batted in are in the top-10.
