Dodgers: An Update on Rich Hill’s Injury Status

Dodgers’ pitcher Rich Hill is continuing to inch closer on his return to the mound after being shut down due to pain in his knee.

Today, the southpaw faced hitters in a simulated inning while wearing a knee brace. He threw 17 pitches and felt no pain, according to Alden Gonzalez.

He is expected to pitch on Tuesday against the San Diego Padres and again next Sunday against the San Francisco Giants, according to Alanna Rizzo.

Hill was told by Dr. Neal ElAttrache the pain in his knee was scar tissue from his spring MCL injury tearing, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. The recovery time was dependent on how long until the symptoms disappeared, and according to Hill his knee “felt great” today.

His stuff looked good and he was grunting and cursing like he normally does, per Mike DiGiovanna of the LA Times.

On the season, Hill has pitched to a 2.68 ERA, 4.30 FIP, 10.57 K/9 and 2.35 BB/9 in 53 2/3 innings of work. It is unclear what his role will be going forward but getting Hill back in time for the playoffs could be a big boost to the Dodgers’ staff.

More on Rich Hill was discussed on the latest episode of Dodgers Nation’s Blue Heaven Podcast, along with Bill Plunkett.
