Dodgers’ catching prospect Connor Wong has been named an Uncle Ray’s Player of the Month Award recipient for the month of August.
The award is given monthly to the top minor leaguer in each of the 10 leagues. He is the recipient for the Texas League since he is currently with the Tulsa Drillers, the double-A affiliate of the Dodgers.
In August, Wong led the Texas League in batting average (.412), hits (40), total bases (72), home runs (9), RBI (26), on-base percentage (.463), slugging percentage (.742), and OPS (1.205). From Aug. 16-27, Wong had an 11-game hitting streak with seven multi-hit games. He posted 13 multi-hit games during the month.
This season, he is hitting .281/.336/.541 with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs over 423 at-bats between double-A and single-A.
Wong was drafted by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Houston. He is currently their 28th ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
