Clippers News: LA Has Shown Interest in Point Guard Derrick Rose

The Clippers have stormed out of the gate to establish themselves as a top contender once again. They’ve shown that their disappointing playoff run last season is behind them and they’re out for revenge. While the roster is loaded with talent, there are still ways Los Angeles can upgrade their squad.

One area that has become obvious is the point guard position. Patrick Beverley has handled the starting duties for the Clips. He’s a defensive wizard that has come through for LA time and again. However, he doesn’t offer much on the offensive side as he’s averaging only 8 points so far this season which falls in line with his career mark of 8.9 points per game.

The Clippers also have Lou Williams coming off of the bench who does pack a punch. So far he’s not doing much better than Beverley as he’s averaging 8.8 points per game. However, there’s no doubt he’ll heat us as the season goes on.

While the two are more than capable of handling the position for the Clippers, they may be seeking an upgrade. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Clippers have shown interest in veteran guard Derrick Rose. In 12 games for the Detroit Pistons, Rose is averaging 14.8 points in 23.8 minutes. What stands out for Rose is his ability to make more plays happen compared to the other two. He’s managed to average 4.6 assists per game which outnumbers both Beverley and Williams and has averaged 5.6 in his career.

Sweet Lou and Beverley just aren’t made to be that guy. Some could argue that Rose isn’t either, but he does give them a better option who can open up more scoring opportunities for Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. His presence on the court would also give them yet another scorer for opposing teams to worry about.

Should the pull of a trade for Derrick Rose? Let us know in the comments!
