The Clippers’ loss to the Denver Nuggets came as a shock to many fans throughout the NBA. The Clippers were pegged as favorites to play in the Finals and potentially win it all. Instead, a star-studded team led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George disappointed after blowing a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals.
It seems that the organization now wants to go another direction, starting with their head coach. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers have let go of Doc Rivers.

Rivers had spent the past 7 years coaching the Clippers to 6 playoff appearances, including 3 Conference Semifinals. He ends his tenure with the team compiling a record of 356-208. However, that record will seem to not mean much to Clippers fans everywhere after he failed to coach the team to an NBA title.
According to LA Times writer Brad Turner, assistant coach Ty Lue and Jeff Van Gundy are some names to watch. If the Clippers don’t feel an internal option is the best way to go, there are plenty of options to seek. Whoever takes over the team next will have some big shoes to fill. Not only that, but they will put up to the challenge of making it past the Conference Semifinals for the first time in the team’s history. The team is set to lose Paul George this offseason if he decides to opt-out, so it may be the first of many moves for the organization if they wish to make another run next season.
