Chargers: Keenan Allen(Back) Expected to Return in Week 7 Following Bye Week

The Chargers took a hit when Keenan Allen exited their Week 5 matchup against the Saints with a bad back, but it sounds like his recovery has gone according to plan.

From the very beginning, coach Anthony Lynn was adamant that the star wide receiver would be “fine”, but back injuries are always something to watch carefully. It seems as if the coach was correct in being so optimistic, however, because Allen is on track to play in Sunday’s game against the Jags.

Based on the team’s Injury Report for Week 7, Allen was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice. This was likely out of precaution and to bring him along slowly, but the extra time off definitely helped in his return timeline.

With Justin Herbert officially taking the role of QB1 the rest of the way, it will be crucial that his favorite target remains healthy going forward. The next steps for Allen will be to be upgraded to full participation in practices as we get closer to gameday as he aims to move on from the injury scare.

With the Chargers sitting at 1-4, not much is expected from them around the league. What a perfect opportunity for them to show just how wrong everyone truly is.
