Chargers News: Keenan Allen Ranked in Top-10 of WRs in Poll of NFL Personnel Evaluators

Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen is one of the most underrated and unappreciated receivers in the NFL. 50 NFL players, executives, and scouts were polled on who the top-10 wide receivers are for this upcoming season.

Keenan Allen was ranked as the 8th best WR. Allen is arguably a top-5 receiver if he had a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, or Tom Brady. Keenan Allen was Philip Rivers’ main target; however, most of Rivers’ passes to Allen were short, and Allen picked up most of the yardage after the catch.

It should be interesting how Allen fares with Tyrod Taylor, Justin Herbert, or a free agent quarterback that the Chargers may sign before the season begins. Since the Chargers moved to Los Angeles, Allen has been in the pro-bowl all three years. Throughout his career, Allen has had 524 receptions, 6,405 yards, and 34 touchdowns.

Allen is on the level of receivers such as Tyreek Hill and DeAndre Hopkins, but he doesn’t get as much buzz either because the Chargers haven’t had a young, exciting quarterback, or they haven’t been able to remain healthy throughout the years. Now that the Chargers defense is healthy, and they will have a mobile QB no matter who the starter is, under an Anthony Lynn system, that QB will thrive, the Chargers defense will be top-tier, and they will be a threat in the AFC this upcoming season.
